Additional options

When booking, you can add the following options to your trek.

Joining the Atlas Trail in 3 steps

Step 1: First book your Atlas Trail to secure your place

Step 2: Then book the flights of your choice. You can of course already look at flights before booking your trip.

Step 3: Once there, you will travel to the Atlas mountains by shuttle to start your hike.

When should I book my flights?

First book your Atlas Trail to secure your place, then book your flights.

You can of course already look at flights before booking your trip.

Total flexibility for your flights
  • Since everyone flies from different airports, and to give you as much flexibility as possible in flight dates, times and prices, we have not included flights in our trip.
  • You will find plenty of flights to Marrakech on the dates and from the airports that suit you, at affordable prices.
  • Expect to pay between €150 and €300 for a return flight to Marrakech.
How do I book my flights?
  • Feel free to use Google Flights or Skyscanner to compare prices and find the flight that suits you. You can even make things easier by arriving in Morocco a day earlier with an extra night as an option (day 0)! More information below.
  • Many low-cost airlines fly to Marrakech (easyJet, Transavia, Ryanair, etc.).

If you have any questions about your flights, feel free to contact us by email.

Meeting point
  • The departure for Zawyat Oulmzi (Atlas) is on Day 1 at 1 pm from the centre of Marrakech. Please arrive a little early. The official meeting is at that time, but we recommend arriving the day before and booking a night in Marrakech.
  • For the return, our shuttle will drop you off in Marrakech in the late afternoon on Day 7. You can sleep a night in Marrakech before taking your flight the next day.
Outbound flight

To get to Marrakech, you are quite free to take whichever flight you like.

  • The official meeting is on Day 1 at 1 pm in the centre of Marrakech. We recommend arriving the day before, on Day 0, and booking a night in Marrakech (we offer an extra night as an option for greater convenience). This gives you more flexibility with flights.
  • Be aware that there is often traffic between the airport and the city centre, and that even though the distance is short, the journey can sometimes take a long time.
  • You can look for a flight for Day 0 (or early in the morning on Day 1).

example: if your trip starts on 23 May, that is the date of the meeting for the shuttle departure in the centre of Marrakech, so we recommend arriving on 22 May for more peace of mind.

  • To get to the city centre, the simplest option is a taxi (available 24/7, approx. €20). You may be able to share a taxi with other participants by arranging it through the chat in the Travelbase app.
Return flight
  • For your return flight, you can look for a flight on the last day of the trip (day 8) to the airport of your choice.
  • You can take a taxi from the centre to the airport at a time that suits you (price: €8-10 per taxi).

Example: if your trip runs from 23 May to 30 May, you should look for a return flight on 30 May.

Timeline
  • Day 0: recommended: arrive at Marrakech airport at your convenience → night in Marrakech
  • Day 1: (arrival in Marrakech if you leave early in the morning) + shuttle to the High Atlas at 1 pm from here. → night in a mountain gîte.
  • Day 7: back in Marrakech.
  • Day 8: return flight to the airport of your choice.

Difficulty level: what to expect?

Describing a trek means taking many factors into account. Based on the following elements, you can know what to expect.

FAQ

Please take a look at the FAQ below before sending us an email. The FAQ provides complete answers to the most frequently asked questions! If you still can’t find the answer to your question, feel free to contact us.

Who is this trip suitable for?
  • For motivated minds (ages 16-65). This trek is designed for anyone in good physical shape with a desire for an authentic adventure. It is a trip that demands real physical effort, so good health is essential. Please note: anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • How do you know if it’s for you? Check the “Difficulty level” section (further down this page): it analyses the distance and elevation gain, the weather conditions and the terrain you will encounter.
  • We help you get ready! Is this your first multi-day trek? If you are active, can walk 15 km on hilly terrain and are willing to train, this challenge is for you! One week after your booking, you will receive a training programme to prepare with peace of mind.
How many km and how much elevation gain during the trek?
  • An immersive adventure of about 83 km. That is the total distance you will cover over 5 days of hiking. It is a superb challenge that offers you a total disconnection in the heart of the grandiose landscapes of the Atlas.
  • Elevation gain: the real challenge. More than the distance, it is the elevation gain (the daily ascents and descents) that makes up the challenge. Good physical condition is therefore needed to fully enjoy the adventure.
  • We help you get ready! Don’t worry, you are not alone. To help you prepare with peace of mind, a training programme will be sent to you by e-mail well before your departure.
How is the hike organised?
  • A 100% guided adventure (and that’s a plus!) The Atlas is a magnificent but wild adventure playground: there are no signposts at all. For your safety and the quality of the experience, venturing there alone is strongly discouraged.
  • The expertise of our local guides and the Travelbase guides. Your trek is therefore led by experienced guides. They manage the route, anticipate the weather and assist you if you run into difficulties. It is the guarantee of a worry-free adventure, even for beginners.
  • An app for support. You get access to our app. It serves as a digital “road book” to discover the details of the stages and the points of interest, while you benefit from the support and safety of the guide. You will also find the route there.
What is included in the price?

The base price includes:

  • 5 nights in the camps
  • 1 night in a gîte (Zawyat Oulmzi), in dormitories
  • All internal transport by shuttle
  • Water available at every camp
  • Support from our guides and local guides
  • The Travelbase app, with the detailed route
  • A training programme and a packing list

Flights, meals and gear rental are optional.

Where do we sleep during the trek? (bivouac, gîte, hotel)
  • Total immersion in nature (the bivouac). Most of your nights are spent in a bivouac, in the heart of the Atlas, “in the middle of nowhere”. It is pure disconnection: there are no sanitary facilities, but a tent is set up for going to the toilet. Don’t worry: drinking water is provided every evening, and a tent is set up so the cooking team can prepare a hot meal for you.
  • The easy option (gear rental). You can bring your own gear or rent ours. The gear will be waiting for you directly in Zawyat Oulmzi, where you spend the first night in the gîte. You either carry it yourself during the hike or have it transported to each camp if you take the luggage transport option.
  • Authenticity and comfort (night 1 & 7).
    • Day 1: You sleep in an authentic gîte (dormitories, local comfort). It is simple, but there are showers, toilets and a terrace with a stunning view.
    • Day 7: For your return to Marrakech, you can book your hotel night as an option with us for smoother logistics.
What is the best time to do the trek in the High Atlas?
  • Our departures: from late May to early June, and from late August to mid-September. All dates are in the booking calendar.
  • Late May and early June: sunny and hot days, especially in the valleys, and cool nights at altitude.
  • Late August and September: slightly milder days. A few showers remain possible.
  • In any case, the mountain decides. Your bivouacs are above 2000 m (up to 2700 m) and the Col Asderm peaks at 3225 m: bring enough to stay warm, cool and protected from the rain. Our guides adapt the route if the weather requires it.
